Gonarezhou — 'Place of Elephants' in Shona — is Zimbabwe's second-largest national park and its best-kept secret. Red sandstone cliffs tower above ancient riverbeds. Massive elephant herds move through mopane woodland. Nyala, sable, wild dog and lion share a wilderness that receives a fraction of the visitors of Hwange or Mana Pools.
