Matobo Hills is one of the most extraordinary landscapes in Africa — granite domes and balancing boulders that have been here since before life was complex, now draped in bush that hides leopard, white rhino, sable, and zebra. Exploring it on horseback, at the pace of an animal, changes everything about the experience. You move quietly, you cover ground, you see the landscape as the wildlife sees it.
The day
Meet your horses and guide at the lodge stable. Choose between a morning ride (2.5 hours, best for wildlife) or a sundowner ride (2 hours, best for scenery and light). Your guide leads you through the granite kopjes, past natural waterholes, and across the open plains that characterise this part of the park. Return to the lodge for refreshments.
