The full-day canoe trip is the deeper Zambezi experience. You paddle further upstream, leaving all signs of civilisation behind. A riverside lunch under a canopy of trees breaks the day — your guide prepares food while you swim in the shallows or watch a herd of buffalo cross the river. The afternoon paddle brings you back as the light turns gold. This is one of the most immersive day activities available in Victoria Falls, and a favourite of returning visitors who have already ticked off the adrenaline activities.
The day
Paddle 18 kilometres of the upper Zambezi through a wilderness few visitors see. Morning channels teem with birdlife, midday you stop on a sand island for lunch in the shade, and afternoon brings close encounters with hippo pods and elephants crossing the river. By day's end, you'll have earned every sundowner.
