Walk out under the Victoria Falls Bridge on the engineers' catwalks — harnessed, helmeted and 128 metres above the Zambezi — with a theatrical guide telling the story of the 1904–05 steel arch that carried Cecil Rhodes's Cape-to-Cairo dream across the gorge. The 198-metre span was prefabricated in England, shipped out and joined over the gorge in just fourteen months; this tour walks its history as well as its steelwork. It runs twice daily at 10:00 and 14:30 and takes about two and a half hours, including the museum introduction. Minimum age is ten, and a head for heights helps. Hotel pickups in Victoria Falls town are included.

A Walk Through 1905
Meet your guide, harness up, and step onto the catwalks beneath the great steel arch that has linked Zimbabwe and Zambia since 1905. The tour tells the bridge's story — the Cape-to-Cairo ambition it served, its prefabrication in England and construction over the gorge, and the lives it has carried since — often told in the voice and costume of the period. The main arch spans 198 metres, the river runs 128 metres below, and the spray of the Falls drifts through the gorge around you. Departures 10:00 and 14:30; about two hours; minimum age 10; bring your passport.
